CARBONita’s Story
CARBONita Detail officially launched on January 1, 2010, and began as a New Year’s resolution for young entrepreneur Bryce Lindhardt.
At an early age, Lindhardt developed and affinity for vehicles; especially after his first purchase — a rust bucket, bullet riddled, beat-up, ol’ ‘89 Ford Ranger. The truck wasn’t much to be desired, but for Lindhardt, it was his pride and joy. He knew that truck inside and out. Whenever something needed to be fixed, Lindhardt took the time to learn how to repair it; he enjoyed learning everything he could about the automotive industry. It was a way for him to make sure that he knew his truck was being cared for, rather than taking it in to just any mechanic. Although the vehicle’s appearance was in a state of disrepair, it was always taken care of. There were times when Lindhardt would even spend hours working under the hood of that truck just to make sure it ran the best it could. The Ranger was Lindhardt’s lifeline for work and school, and Lindhardt kept the Ranger alive.
While attending school, Lindhardt dabble in a variety of studies — as do most entrepreneurs. But, his attention to detail always rested upon his affinity with automobiles. It was during his college tenure, Lindhardt started dabbling with the idea of working for himself. However, he brushed that thought aside as considered it necessary to study and find a stable job, and working towards developing his personal career.
In 2007, he decided that he would take a two-year hiatus from his education to offer voluntary service for a non-profit organization. According to Lindhardt, it was one of the best decisions he has ever made. He spent those two years in Montana to both serve the communities he was involved in, but also worked in leadership within the organization. It was an opportunity for him to experience another culture, and develop leadership skill more rapidly. When he returned home, he immediately started back into his schooling at Dixie State, in St. George, Utah.
It was during this time when Lindhardt began struggling with his current part-time job. He noticed a moderate level of disconnect with the company, clients and staff. The experience served as the impetus for him to make a change — going into business for himself. As a fallback, working for the family-business was always an option for him, but deep down inside, Lindhardt wanted to make a name for himself and accomplish his own dreams and aspirations. He had the desire to start up his own company, something that he was passionate about.
He recalled upon his recent youth and was reminded of his rusty ol’ Ford Ranger. It was if a light had gone on for Lindhardt. He knew, right then, what it was he wanted to do. He wanted to help people have pride in driving their cars; the same feeling he would experience driving his truck. He decided that the best way to help people experience a sense of pride in driving their vehicles was to detail cars. But just detailing was not enough, he wanted his company to reflect a change; making a difference in the community he served — protecting the environment.
CARBONita was sparked. Not only would he be making cars beautiful, he would be using biodegradable products while limiting his use of water in order to clean a vehicle. The business model he created was one that gave his client’s the pride of driving a clean car, but also the comfort of knowing that CARBONita minimizes effect on the environment. For this reason CARBONita literally means: Beautiful Car; Small Carbon Footprint.
